My cat for the past 2 weeks has had diarrhea.  At first I thought it was the
treats I occasionally give her like a chunk of meat or cheese or tuna but I
stopped that immediately and she still has the diarrhea.  Any ideas?  She
has no access to any other food and I feed her dry food.

How do I know if my cat's diarrhea is serious?

Your cat's diarrhea may be serious if any of the following additional
symptoms are present.

       · Vomiting
    · Dehydration

       · Loss of appetite
    · Abdominal pain

       · High fever
    · Lethargy

       · Bloody diarrhea
    · Watery diarrhea

If the diarrhea is occurring in conjunction with one or more of the symptoms
above bring your kitty into the clinic for a diagnosis. Diarrhea with one of
these other symptoms may be a sign of serious illness. Dr. Simon may do
x-rays, blood tests, stool cultures, biopsies of the intestinal tract, or in
severe cases exploratory surgery to determine what is ailing your kitty. He
may also prescribe medications or a special diet for your friend.

If you bring your cat in, you should know some of the following information.

a.. How long has the diarrhea has been present?
   b.. Has it gotten worse?
c.. What is the consistency of the stool?
d.. Is there blood in the stool?
e.. How often is the diarrhea happening?
f.. What color is the stool?
g.. Is your cat eating normally?
h.. What have you been feeding - or what might your cat have eaten
lately?
i.. Do you have any other pets in your house? Have they also had
diarrhea?

Thanks!  She has none of the other symptoms and the other cat does not have
diarrhea so I'll give it another week or so and see if she gets back to
normal.

I would still call the vet that is just a general observation.  Right now I
would give your firball some Gatorade to make sure there is no dehydration
and call the vet to make sure.  BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

bring in a sample of the stool to the vet to see if she has intestinal
parasites.  Even if she doesn't go out and hunt, she can hunt from inside
the house or get them from other means.  Getting it tested is a quick and
simple thing, just bring a small amount.

If that is ruled out, you can try plain yogurt, and canned pumpkin (NOT pie
filling) one will help restore the flora in the gut, the other will give her
fiber to help bulk up her stools.

If not intestinal parasites, and it doesn't  clear up or gets worse, it
could be a food allergy.  Yes they develop at any time.  Actually it could
be a number of things.  *refers to other post with lots of good info*

Yep, and she never goes outdoors.  It's got me very confused.

Food allergy?
It's not wrong to feed cooked liver, not too much, preferably chicken or
beef.
Good luck!

Don't think so, she's been eating the same food for over a year.  She and my
other cat love the new food for indoor cats that has grass in it.  I'm going
to get her to the vet Monday.  better safe than sorry.

Did you change her food recently? It could be that if you have.
Gatorade is good if she will drink it, I tried that on mine, also, but
he didn't seem to like fruit punch. :)

Good luck!
