Absolutely! But you're deserving as well. It takes a lot of hours, a
lot of dollars, and a lot of heart to make it happen. Bless everyone
who does their part.

: THAT IS WONDERFUL!!!
But tell me, is it possible to get your own pet back after this big
disaster?
Watching from Europe I've always asked myself this question, especially
after I heard the story of the little boy who had to give away his little
dog when he got on the evacuation bus.

He did not have to give the dog away it was ripped out of his arms by a over
zealous moron and refused to be allowed on the bus the dog's name is snow
ball. The moron has been fired and the aspca is pushing to have charges
brought against the him. The dog was saved by the HSUS and from what I
understand has had a happy reunion but there are many stories of people
having to give up there pets to be evacuated.
Thanks to our US government officials we currently have a PET bill in the
works that would allow animals to be considered evacuees also
All the animals that were adopted were pre hurricane these animals were all
older animals that were in no kill shelters in the impacted areas. All the
animals are scanned for microchips and there pictures are all on petfinders
just in case.
I am happy to say that one of the cats from the first batch was reunited
with his family from MISS.. He had gotten out and was not microchipped they
had been looking for him before the hurricane hit. Every one of the people
at the shelter were in tears when we saw their faces when we brought the
firball out they had lost everything but they had found their friend. They
told us they had given up hope when they finally got to the shelter 4 days
after the hurricane hit and saw the shelter was destroyed along with half
the town. They did not know that sister company of the shelter that was
destroyed ;the cat protection society had made a special trip out there
before the hurricane hit and evacuated all the pets; this included horses,
rabbits and even a pot belly pig besides the ones I listed. Our sister
society knew they were in a flood area and when they were told to leave they
called us to help out. We packed up and moved all the animals to other
shelters here in Florida and farther in to MISS. But when we went back to
help HSUS rescue teams F*/*/?/NG FEMA stop us and made us turn around.
HSUS took some of our volunteers but not all of them FEMA was the biggest
FUBAR there ever was.
Yes it is possible to be reunited first microchip your pet at the
shelter we reunite pets and there owner every day because of this make
sure the microchip information stays current
second make sure your pet has all their shots and immunizations most places
require this to register your pet
third make sure you have pictures and current information on your pet make
sure your vet and secondary care giver such as a good friend has this
information
fourth store this information in environmental protected safe place
fifth have a plan that includes your pet
