Recently my  husband was deployed and I believe that our cat misses him. She
has become more of a loving cat. She will come and curl up with me more now
then what she would do before. My husband would play rough with her and I try
to make up for it. It just seems like her behavior has changed or she senses
that he's going to be gone for a while. Don't get me wrong I like the fact
that she's become more nicer but I also don't want anything to be wrong with
her. She's our baby until we decide to have real babies. Does anyone have
advice?

they always know something is wrong  and they act on it.  When one of us is
gone for a while our cats basically come together and keep the other human
comforted.  Think of them as children  what happens when mommy or daddy goes
away for a while the kids keep an eye on the one that is left

When your better half gets back  and HE WILL COME BACK don't be surprised if
you can't get a moment peace for either you husband or cat :-)

And she will always be your baby even when you have human children  remember
that she is one of your kids  so many new mothers kick the cats to the curb
when the newborn comes along not saying you will but it happens to often

With your husband gone you can come here for support we will gladly keep a
smile on your face

Thank you for your advice. Right now I can see how our cat (Metal) reacts to
babies since I have two brand new neices (a month a part). She comes over and
sniffs them and after that she doesn't seem to bother them. I would just be
afraid that she'd smell the milk on the baby and want to lick there faces, I
wouldn't want her to smother them either.
Well as long as she misses him as much as I know he misses her. It's funny
now that he's gone when the phone rings she runs and tries to answer the
phone.

THAT IS A OLD MYTH  cats will not smother a child
how many children have milk left on their faces with their mothers around.
Most cats will take a look a the babies to see what is making the noise and
after that could care less  a typical cat

I have 5 kids had cats all my life  cats could have cared less about the
babies except to teach them a lesson about grabbing ahold of their tails
and not letting go.  None of the kids every did that again

My youngest cat is scared to death of the noise a baby makes when crying..
so much that when my other half phones ring (he has a baby crying as a ring
tone! off i know!) he runs a mile! most amusing!
