I just wanted to share a quick story. My cat's favorite way to bug me is to
open all the cabinets and closets in the house. She does this daily and I
close them when I come home :) A few weeks ago I bought "the bubbler" which
is sort of large. It takes up the space where I used to have her food and
water bowls. So I was trying to find a new spot to put her food bowl that
wasn't in the way. Seeing as how I'm single and don't cook much, I don't
need all of the cabinet space in my kitchen. As luck would have it, there
is a large two cabinet space under the sink that has no wall splitting the
cabinets. Her small round kitty condo fits inside one side of the cabinet
and the other side has her food dish and her automatic food dish. She's on a
diet so I regulate her food intake :) There's also room for her to lie down
in there and to eat. So, I now have cleared out space in my kitchen and she
loves it! She opens the cabinets to get food whenever she wants and now
sits in and on top of her kitty condo much more than she used to when it was
out in the kitchen. I think she likes her privacy! She even takes her toys
in there to play! I think it's the best idea I ever had. She can go in and
out as she pleases and I can close the doors whenever I need to because she
can open them herself! I don't know why she does it, but she always puts
her favorite tiny beanie baby toy in her food dish. She did this when they
were out in the open. Right now, she's sitting in there eating and I can
see the little beanie baby sitting in her food dish. She's one smart
cookie! She even opens the correct side depending on what she wants! Right
now the left side, where the food is, is wide open. The right side is
closed. Earlier today I was looking for her and found her with the left
side closed and the right side barely open. ( I close them both practically
every time I go in the kitchen for anything.) I opened it and she peeked
her head out of her condo :) And who said cats were boring?!?!

That is weird. I send links to people all the time and they are able to
look without signing up. Sorry.

So cute. Butterscotch looks similar to our Neko and Sandy. Such wonderful
coloring.

I know! I just couldn't leave her for another kitty when I was looking at
the pet shop. She was calling out to me! I swear it! I love her colors. I
believe I've seen pictures of Neko and Sandy. At least, Neko sounds
familiar :)

My cat doesn't open cabinets, which is good, but I wonder if she is
defective. She also doesn't jump from the ground to the kitchen counter.
She has a round about way to get to the counter, but I can block that off if
I want. That is also good, but I wonder about her lack of leaping ability.
She seems reasonably smart in that if I move her litter box and food around,
she can find them.

We have five cats. Only our oldest, Millie, opens the cupboard door in the
bathroom vanity to go in and take a nap, undisturbed by the other four. We
have made her a soft bed inside.

Your cat is just using its kitty smarts. A cat will ALWAYS take the
route that is the most sure-footed way. If they can walk from spot to
spot to get up on something rather than jumping straight up to that spot
they will.

She can sink her claws into the cat tree and couch, but the kitchen counter
is slippery.
