Well, my kitty never drinks enough water. She also is on a diet because she
needs to lose at least 5 or 6 pounds. So, in order to regulate her feeding
more, I bought cheap timer dish to give her a third of her allowed daily
amount at noon. I feed her before I go to work and then in the evening when
I get home. She eats about every 8 hours now instead of just having the
dish there for whenever she wants to eat. While at the store buying the
dish, I also bought her a product called "the bubbler" because I thought
that more water would be healthy but also help with weight loss. I live in
the US and bought it at petsmart for about $20. It has a large clear
reservoir and a large bowl area. It has a little tube and an air pump so
that it bubbles. My cat loves it! She spent the first couple hours just
eyeing it and then she tried it. I didn't break her in slowly by having her
use it without it bubbling. I just replaced her blue water bowl with it.
It's only been going for a couple days and she has drank at least twice as
much as she normally did. When I would change her water daily, barely any
would be gone. I'd fill it to the top ( I used a ceramic bowl type mug.
You know, one of those big ones they use in coffee shops) and it wouldn't
even be down half an inch after an entire day of it being out. From what I
can tell, the reservoir has gone down at least a couple inches from where it
was when I filled it. The reservoir also is very good. It doesn't just flow
into the bowl. It has a stopper in it and it flows out slowly until the
water hits it. That's what it seems to me anyway, so the reservoir goes
down to keep the water in the bowl at a certain level. So I know that she
has drank what has left the reservoir because the level in the bowl stays
the same. Does that make sense? I highly recommend it to anyone who is
concerned with water consumption. She's at it all the time. The bubbles
really do make her want to drink it because it seems more fresh. It also
has a nice low comforting flowing water sound. She also actually is now
sleeping on her play shelf that I have which is by the water. It has a hole
to jump through and a little kitty condo attached and is carpet covered. She
normally will play on it every once in a while. But since I put the bubbler
by it, she has been napping on top of it. I think it's the best thing I
ever bought her! She usually ignores cat play things for stuff like straws
and paper :) So I just wanted to let all of you know that if you're
concerned for your cat not having enough water, this definitely helped my
cat and she is very fussy about what she will and will not use. Just my two
cents :)

Great story. Could you post a link to the bubbler?

Here's a link to the petsmart site. It's not bubbling in the picture, but if
you look through the reservoir you can see where you attach the little
plastic tube for the air to go through.
