Burmese cat at home alone during the day?

Hi,

I've recently been asked whether i want to adopt an unwanted Burmese
cat (only 4 months old), and I'm very tempted, having always wanted a
cat.

I live on my own in a little house without a garden, and work 9-6
normally. Apparently the cat will need to stay inside because it gets
lost if allowed out.

The main thing that worries me is how it will be when left on its own
during the day - the last thing I want to do is have a depressed cat
because it's not getting enough company!

Does anyone have one of these beautiful cats, and if so, can they tell
me if I'd be cruel to take her on, given my circumstances?

Thanks,
Mark.

Bring that firball home to love  cats can keep them selves occupied all day
long  now the firball will get depressed if you leave them all day long than
ignore them when you get home.  That is when the cats devious side comes
into play and you will find a hairball in your slipper

First, was the Burmese always an only cat? If so, I don't think
there'd be any problems.

Second, I think you'll love being owned by a cat. Therefore, a
companion might be in order. You can get these easily. You might wind
up being owned by two or more.

Bring the Burmese home and consider yourself a human servant!

Good luck!

Cats are most active at dawn and dusk and sleep most of the day. So She
might not mind being alone. Still, I think a 2nd cat would make a great
companion for her, especially when they're young and can play together
and wear each other out.

I think it would be great for you to adopt this little kitty.  Better yet,
adopt her and also adopt another from youtr local shelter.  Two kittens
become great buddies, and this would also alleviate your concerns about the
cat being lonely in your absence.

Hi Mark,

I have an almost 7 month old burmese (Angus) who is an only cat and
stays at home alone while I work. He has done this since I brought him
home and I have had no problems. He eats, sleeps and plays while I am
at work and is no more destructive than when I am home. i would
kitten-proof based on your cat's personal habits. My little guy chews
paper so I don't leave anything important lying around. He also chews
flowers!!! I leave food/water and toys out and, during the day, open
blinds, curtains etc. When he was very little I kept the toilet lid
closed as he loves water and I didn't want him to drown.

Most times I come home to a bleary-eyed little guy who totters out from
the still warm nest on my bed to greet me at the door for a big cuddle.

If you decide to take him/her you will love being a burmese parent.
They are adorable.

All the best. Keep us informed.

Get two.  It's twice as much fun.
