I am writing this on behalf of my friend, she has got an 11 year old girl
cat called smokey.
Smokey keeps on vomiting, she was taken to the vet and was put on a drip
and kept in for 3 days, she has had 3 injections antibiotics (Synulox)
plus tablets, water tablets and injections and 2 antisickness tablets.
Her runny eyes have cleared up, she is grooming herself but she is still
vomiting, she has nothing stuck in her throat although her voice is a
little gruff.  All blood tests are normal - no aids or lukemia etc.
Smokey has not eaten a meal for almost 2 weeks and drinking very little.
X rays show fluid around heart and lungs which is like diluted whiskey
colour,
Has anybody been through anything like this with there pet or anybody
elses??
The vet is not coming up with any answers, just keeps on saying come back
in the next day or two?
Vets bills are astranomic.
My friend is getting desperate now, she loves smokey her best freind for
the past 11 years, but she does not want to see Smokey suffer and she may
have to make a decision on whether to have smokey put to sleep.
I would be grateful for any replys which I can pass on to my friend.

If it be I grow frail and weak
and pain should wake me from my sleep
then you ,ust do what must be done
for this last battle can't be won.

You will sad, I'll understand
Don't let grief then stay your hand
For this day more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test

We've had so many happy years
What is to come will hold no fears
You'll not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go

I know in time, you too will see,
It is a kindness you do to me
Although my tail it's last has waved
From pain and suffering, I've been saved

Do not grieve that it should be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do
We've been so close, we two, these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

I hope this helps your friend. It's an extremely difficult decision to
make.

I would like to thank you for replying to my subject, unfortunately my
friend had to make the decision today to have smokey put to her final
sleep, smokey no longer has to suffer and is free from pain.
The poem that was sent to me, I have now passed on to my friend, she
thought it a lovely poem and it is helping her with the decision she had
to make with smokey.
Thank you once again

Please tell your friend that I am sorry for her loss. I/We all know what
it is like to lose one of our furbabies, and we understand her pain. May
she take comfort in knowing that she did everything humanly possible for
her little friend. I know that Smokey is waiting for her at the Rainbow
Bridge, and anticipates her beloved mistresses arrival. (hopefully not
too soon).

Cat.

Take the records to another vet for a second opinion if the vet is stumped.

Done a biopsy on the fluid around the heart yet?  What is it?  What is in
it?  Bacteria?
