Every time I'm reading a book or magazine and one of my cats wants
attention, they invariably come lie on the page I'm reading. How do
they know what page I'm on?

Mine think the newspaper is an automatic invite no matter how hard I try to
read it quietly.
He could be miles away and as soon as that paper opens, Boom, I look down
and there he is sitting quite happily on the page, licking his paws without
a care in the world...
Oh to be a kitty....

: Oh to be a kitty....

... must be the best thing in the world!
That's if you find a willing slave ...

I don't take the newspaper, but my girl kit *loves* to shred napkins,
so I have to put them up somewhere she can't get to. Thank gawd she's
never gotten interested in the toilet paper roll.... <oops, did I just
jinx myself?)

My Sissy is the same way.  Open the paper and she magically appears with her
face in front of mine, and the paper all crooked until I put it down.  Then
she is ready to get down herself.

LOL my cats have always been big readers too. My father likes to spread
the paper on the floor to read and our cats always lay on it.
(Apparently I would do the same as a baby and we have a photo of him
reading the paper in the playpen.) I hold what I'm reading up so Angus
can't lay on it but he chews the pages and bites pieces out of them. He
loves all paper and will shred tissues, envelopes shopping lists -
anything. He has only shredded one toilet roll though, don't know why
but I think he prefers paper I am using. As the other poster said -
hope I haven't spoken too soon!

It is alleged that wester@laway.net claimed:

Just a guess:  it's the one facing up.
