Thanks to those of you who answered my previous question.  I now have
another.
My five month old kitten, during the day does not use her litter tray.  I
have a large back garden and when she requires to go out she squeals at the
back door.  The problem is during the night.  All of the house is open to
her otherwise she cries.  She has however NOT been using her litter tray at
night for a week now.  I thought she was thoroughly house trained.  After my
"FINDS" today it would appear I was wrong.  I`d  any help concerning  proper
house training.  Thanks

get a few more litter trays and put them around the house.  she's still just
a toddler in the stages of kitten hood, and can't get to the box in time at
night when it is dark.  As she gets older, she'll be able to hold it longer
and will either make it to the box where you want it to be, or will hold it
through the night and go out in the morning.

And if she's used to going outside, she may be confused about all of her
options.  I'd do another tray or two.  But if it keeps up, ask your vet.
It's a cat's nature to want to hide it.  My cat was just old enough to bring
home when I got her and I showed it to her one time.  She's used it every
time she's gone and I've never found anything outside the box.  If it's a
continuing problem, it may be a sign of something else.
