I have a cat that's been sneezing for at least a month now.  He has had
two trips to the vet so far.  After his first visit he was prescribed
Gentamicin Sulfate Ophtalmic Solution nose drops (technically eye
drops, but we were told to put them in his nose).  After a week of
those we had the second visit and he was prescribed Amoxacilin which he
has been getting 1mL of twice a day.

I understand that these are both to prevent infection, but it has been
about a month now and he is still sneezing.  The visits to the vet are
getting costly and at this point I'm looking for others who have
experienced similar situations.  The vet told me that I should not
worry about my cat dying from this, so I stopped doing that, but now
I'm worried that he's going to need a visit to the vet every month!

Has anyone else been in a similar sitation?  What's the longest your
cat has sneezed for?  What did you vet advise?  Just keep giving
antibiotics until the sneezing stops?  How often does the sneezing
reoccur?  Do you just go back to the same antibiotics every time the
sneezing reoccurs?  Any information would be helpful to hear!

I don't need the "take the cat to the vet, you need an expert opinion"
replies; he WILL be going back to the vet once he's out of Amoxacilin,
unless the vet advises otherwise.  I'd just like to hear others'
experiences.

Thanks all,

David.

One of our cats was highly allergic to the dust produced by a particular
brand of litter.  When we changed it the sneezing stopped.  You might try
changing litter.

He's had the same brand for the last year, no problems thus far, but
I'm willing to try anything!  Perhaps the litter has been changed or
his allegery is just developing.

We've also recently moved some plants (jade plant and a spider plant)
out where kitty can get at them on a regular basis.  Maybe he has an
allergy to something in the soil or one of the types of plants?  Has
anyone experienced this with their cats?

Thanks again.
