If you refer to my previous post's - If you follow the progress of my cat.
She is 20 YO's and was doing well for 4 days after taking her to the vet.
I am in Pennsylvania and can not get 24 hour service unless I drive 60
miles. Today my cat has been isolating her self in the same corner of my
house.

Then this morning she has been hiding under the bed. I am trying my best to
keep her alive and have also sleeked alternative animal medicine. I have an
appt tomorrow. What is the reality of all this. I know I was behaving
immaturely on some of my previous post. Has the time come? am I in denial?
Should I let nature take its course? has any one had luck with holistic pet
care? Please be compassionate and advise on what I should do. I asked my
friend and he things I am absurd for acting this way over a cat. Am I acting
absurd? Be honest and I will just accept it and deal with it like a man.

I know exactly how you are feeling and don't believe that you are acting in
an absurd manor. But at times such as these, as difficult as they are, I
believe that we have to somehow find the strength to do what's best for them
vs. ourselves.

My personal experiences with having to let my cat go at the tender age of 11
years go, 4 years ago and my companion horse of 28 years, two and a half
years ago, were most devastating!

In human years your girl is about 98 years old. And as much as I know you
would like her life to continue I believe that her time is coming to an end
and that you need to find the strength to accept this.

My heart goes out to you Dave.

Your attachment to your cat is not absurd, your friend may not identify
with it of course, he just has different attachments.

As for your cat, the "time" may or may not have come. Please do not
trust anybody's "diagnosis" over the internet. Inconvenient though it
may be, you have to ask one or two professionals, who may be from
different medical philosophies, who can exmaine her in person. Be
strong and do your best.

As for letting Nature take its course, Nature will do that any way,
always, in all situations. Nothing will ever happen that is not
permitted by Nature. You doing your best is part of Nature.

I had a cat 17 years and had her put down because she wasn't eating and was
very weak.  I'm sorry I did that and wish that I had just let nature takes
its course as she didn't seem to be in any pain. If there's evidence of
pain, then yes, have her put to sleep.

This might be of some comfort:

Dave, I'm sorry your kitty isn't doing well. I went back to read
your previous posts and see that she was just diagnosed with
hyperthyroidism and is on methimazole now. You might ask the vet to
help you tweak her medication level. I've read (not experienced
first hand) that meds for hyperthyroidism can take some tweaking to
find the dosage that works without making her feel worse in other
ways.
You're definitely not absurd feeling as you do for a living
creature that you've loved, and loves you back! :)  Good luck and
please check about the dosage of the med.
