Hi,

My two cats eat can food and dry food and they used to like them both.
However lately they seem to like eating can food much less even though I
have not changed the brands. They started to eat just a little and left the
rest. As I believe that can food are good for them because of the humidity,
I started to reduced the dry food that I am giving them and they started
again eating wet food because they are hungry not because they seem to like
it as much as before. Does those cats eating habit happen to other people?
What could be the cause? I only give them the best food (Wellness) so there
should not be any problem.

    Thanks,

                 Richard

It's not uncommon for a cat to "turn off" it's canned food. Not so much due
to the fact that it's canned, but due to the fact that they get tired of a
particular brand, flavour or texture.

I feed a combination of Wellness dry and Nutro canned. Up until about 6
months ago Matilda was quite happy with the turkey and lamb chunks with
gravy. Then one day she decided she didn't care for it any more. She's lick
off the gravy, but that was it.

As a result I was faced with the task of finding something new. She seemed
to like Iams for about a week and Science Diet for a few days. She loved the
Fancy Feast but that left her with very soft and stinky stools. Then I tried
Merrick and she ate a few cans of this brand before turning up her nose.

Seeing as there wasn't much left out there to try, I went back to her old
turkey and lamb and have also tried the beef ragout. It's been about a month
since I switched back and so far so good.
