I got my new kitty a few days ago and notices fleas this morning and I
am absolutely horrified. I hate creepy crawleys! She is only just over
the 7 weeks so is very young. She is going to the vet for her first
check up tomorrow so I went to the pet shop today and bought "4fleas"
by Johnson's who are a reputable UK company. I got her to take a pill
as recommended and within minutes you could see the fleas dropping off.
I also got the house spray by the same company and have sprayed the
house. Thank God we don't have carpets!! I am worried incase my kids or
myself have fleas. How do you know if you have fleas? Do they live in
your hair? Your clothes? I am so worried. I have now quarintined Kitty
to the kitchen untill the 24hour process has finished. I feel really
sorry for her as she was beginning to come out of her shell a wee bit.
I hope this is not going to be a problem, I love my cat and was wanting
to get another kitten the same age to keep her company but all this
flea business is putting me off.

Fleas are not like lice.  They do not live on your body, only visit for a
meal.  In most cases you will feel it and work diligently to rid yourself
immediately.  A bath or shower a day is a good deterrent for keeping fleas
off you as well.  Sounds like you did what you should and sit back a while
and see if it worked before trying anything more.  Keeping the cat
continually treated is the best preventative.

cat fleas jump on a human, take a bite, go "yecch" and jump off.
