Vacines

Remember a while back here there was a discussion
about vacines and cats.    One of the things that was
brought up at that time is a number of parents in the
US declining to have their kids vacitinated believing
that those vacines led to problems like kids becoming
autistic.

[The disussion started out about chiping and
ultimately touched on vaccines for children
and the idea that parents would have parties to
deliberately "expose" their kdis to child hood diseases
rather than expose their kids to the vaccines which some
believed caused the autism.]

As it turns out maybe those parents were not as
far off as we thought they were.

Twenty years ago autism stuck something 1 in every
10,000 kids.   In 2003  the number is down to1 in every
166kids.   That is one of the things driving
parents to no vaccintate their kids.

A number of parents have reported their kids
were born fine, they developted autism in the
early years.   Some suspect it was mercury in
the vaccines.

My son is autistic. He'll be 21 years old in less than 2 weeks. Trust me when
I tell you I've read just about everything there is to know on this subject
since he was diagnosed at age 3. I am also a nurse and yes, he's had every
vaccine that was ever offered to him.

Autism is a disorder that children are born with, not something that happens
after the fact. There is a part of their brain that does not form properly,
affecting their communication and socialization skills. I have never and
still will not believe that any vaccine can cause this disorder. There may be
some truth to autistic "tendancies" but not autism itself.

Around here on a number of the news shows parents are
coming forward to say their kids who were born "normal"
but that something happened after birth to cause the
autism.   They're contention is it was the mecury in the
vaccines.

Is it possible the autism in some children develops before they
were born but in some other children it develops in the early
year(s) as a result of mercury?  I find it very disturbing how
many increases in the number of cases there have been
in recent years.

I find the statistic about 1 in 10,000 going to 1 in 166 to be
very troubling and that should raise concern.   I do realize
there are kids born with Autism but I have to say I find
the increase in cases to be alarming.

Maybe Autism is the result of poising a certain portion of our
children?

There is *no* research to support the idea that vaccination causes
autism. The effects of 'childhood' diseases can be absolutely
catastrophic for children and are much more common than side effects
from vaccines. As well as that the less people vaccinate their children
the more prevalent these diseases become as their are more people in
whom they can flourish.

As for the parents whose kids were "born fine", autism is not
identifiable at birth and is only diagnosed as the child fails to reach
milestones as expected and begins to exhibit behaviours as he/she
grows.

Please, please vaccinate your children.

As I said in my earlier post, "There may be some truth to autistic
"tendancies" but not autism itself." I believe that something could be
causing these children who are born "fine" to develop these tendancies, but
not true autism itself. I totally agree that not vaccinating your children
will bring back more diseases that we feel are close to being eradicated not
to mention the other serious health problems that these "common" childhood
diseases can create.
