Why is it that when a cat gets scared, they secreet a foul smelling ooze
from their rear ends? that they later, after the fear has passed, will
clean themselves off.. a few times now, my children have come upon the cat
and scared her half to death, upon picking her up to calm her down, she
smells!! Upon examination, .looking for possibly pop stuck on her rear,
there are droplets of this foul smelling stuff on her rear, which upon being
put down, she will clean herself. Any ideas?

It just seems to me a natural reaction just as salivating while
thinking about a good meal.
It is unfortunate that the cat get scared half to death. Could you teach
your children to respect cats? By explaining that it is wrong to scare a
cat just as any living creature, the behaviour may change. Otherwise
discipline should work.
