Hello Everyone,
As we are getting two MC kittens I was wondering about whether it makes
a difference if they are the same sex. We have pretty much decided on
one male of the horde.
If anyone has an interesting story about their Maine Coons and how they
get along that would be appreciated.

Male MC's are really just big goofy love sucks. They don't mature completely or
stop growing until they are around 2, I understand. With my daughters, he is
very bonded to her, but really timid around anyone else. He doesn't like to be
picked up, or held, will sit *next* to you for petting, but not on your lap.
He's really very gentle, and not aggressive with the other cats at all, in
spite of his size.

With the big breeds like MCs I think they don't feel secure being held and
most laps are too small. I have a Siberian, Aragorn (pictures at link
below), and he is less tolerent of being held then whe he was small. He is
only 10 months old and already bigger then almost everyone else in the
house. Siberians are big like MCs.

Thanks for the feedback Joe.
I liked your website, you have beautiful kitties ... interesting crew.
I couldn't get my old buddy Biggles off my lap especially in wintertime
;) and he was quite a big guy. The kids wanted him on their laps but
they were just too small.
I did consider Siberians but there are no local breeders and it was too
much trouble to go to the States to check them out.
You obviously love animals and are doing a great job.
All the best.

Greetings,
I have a maine coon named Amatsu.
Here is a link to Amatsu's precepts....
http://www.rain.org/~gadal/precepts.htm
Anyhow, my cat loves to express his opinions,
whether it be a mild meow or a loud howl.
He loves the company of other cats and humans
and although he is six years old, only in the past
two years has he been a lap cat. He has become
more affectionate as he gets older is in total
control of the household.
I believe it really depends on the environment
that the cat lives in that will determine his/her
happiness.
Sincerely,
Guylene Gadal
He loves to have conversations and
will be a lap cat when it is a bit chilly. He loves to have
the company of other cats and other humans.

Right, this is an easy one ....
Take the one male you like - and it's best buddy!
The breeder will be able to tell you which one it is.

That makes sense Carola. We have a little time to find that out.
