My brother & family are moving about two blocks away in the same subdivision
where they have had an outside cat for about 8-9 years. Kiki has always been
outside & roams alot so he knows the neighborhood. They feed/water him well
& give some attention, but definitely not as much as I'd like for them to,
so I'm afraid when they move they may bring him, but then not worry too much
if he stays. Since it's so close do you think he will quickly realize it's
the new home & not keep going back to his old one?
I can't say much cause they already think I'm kinda nuts for wanting
everyone to treat animals like people and worrying so much about mine. (See,
I'm already worrying about their cat & their offer hasn't even been accepted
yet!) Thanks!

It only works if they keep him strictly indoors for THREE weeks.

Now I can't follow. Which offer? What about your own cat?

I meant my brother's offer on the new house, and I'm silly for already
worrying about their cat.

A 9 year old cat knows who he belongs to by now. He should adjust to where
he gets attention and food. Just let the new owners know the cat might try
to make himself at home and not to feed him and discourage him from going in
his old house. Not much you can do if he likes to hang out under his old
tree or something though.
If the cat did want more attention then they were giving, he would find a
way to ask anyway.
