Hello.

Are Cats and Chinchillas compatible?  Have you had any experience of
keeping both together as pets?  Sorry if this is a dumb question, I
just don't know the answer to it.  I know that Chinchillas are
Rodents, however they are pretty big ones.  In the past we have kept a
Rabbit and Cat together without any problems.

Thanks for your advice.

I think it depends on the cat.  I think as long as the cage is secure
you should be OK, but if you let the chinchilla run occasionally, make
sure the cat is locked in another room.  A cat will think your
chinchilla is a toy that moves by itself!

well, it has worked, because we have had cats and chins for a long
time.  at first the cat thought they were just meals on wheels, until
our first chin bit her on the nose.  on the other hand I have heard of
chins being killed by cats.  Ithink the moral of this long story is
don't leave the chin outside of the cage un attended, or the cat and
chin together un supervised.
