Highly unlikely.
At that age the kitten should be taken to
the vet for a full checkup. Also make
sure the litter box is clean!

always clean see she is my moms kitten and her responsability i help her in
some ways but the feeding and the litter is her responsability when she is
at home

I do think grief over loss can cause stress problems, of which, this is one
sign. Try getting some Feliway spray. It *can* be useful in some cases for
easing stress and curbing these problems. She may also need a lot of extra
attention right now. I suggest going to www.petloss.com also and reading on
animal grief and getting some input from others who may be experiencing the
same thing. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. It doesn't *seem* like the
kitten would have been around the dog enough to have this much of a problem,
but if the dog mothered her, it could be.

So kitten has had some very dramatic changes in a short period. Taken from
mom, new home, new playmate disappears. I would still call the vet and see
what they think but you might also Keep him in one room for now to perhaps
encourage some security.

Regardless of whose responsibility it is,
check, as cats can be particular about their
litter boxes. Making sure they are kept clean
is one of the most basic things any cat owner
can look at when they are having a problem
with the cat's habits.

Since you have a relationship with a vet,
you can always call the office, tell the
receptionist what is going on, and ask
their opinion too. Reasonable vets provide
info over the phone, and will only tell
you to bring the animal in when they truly
think it is necessary.

Where do you find these wonderful vets that you speak so highly of in
every post?  This is not the real world.

I come from Hampshire UK....  I have had 3 different vets in the last few
months due to the other vets being so un helpful! you get in there and they
don't really listen to what you are saying or what you want/need to know!
and the receptionists on the phones haven't got a clue about animals!
you can tell they just want your money! they cannot even be bothered to
explain what and why they are treating your pets, just stick a needle in and
say nothing!
my cat had a snap blood test done for FeLV/FIV the vet took her out of the
room shaved a 2"  square of fur from her chest to take blood! he didn't even
ask if he could do this I would of said "no" they is no need to shave just
to take blood!  this was over a month ago and it still hasn't completely
grown back. he then gave me a bill for ?56.05 when the receptionist had said
it would be ?38.05 when I rang to make the appointment

However I now have found a really nice vet, who explained what and why she
was treating the kitten, and her receptionist is full of knowledge too, and
most helpful on the phone, she also said to call back at a certain time if I
wanted to speak to the vet in person.

I think you should really shop around to find a vet that suits you rather
than just picking the most local or cheapest!  you pay a lot of money to the
vets! you should feel comfortable and be able to ask what you need to know.
We are lucky in this area we have plenty of vets to choose from.

impossible to speak to a vet cause when i called the receptionist didnt know
how much is it for a shot thats another vet for the cat and also another vet

that's terrible!  it makes me so mad the way vets can get away with it, how
dare they put your dog to sleep, ok you sued them and won which is good but
it doesn't bring your dog back and it should not of happened in the first
place. So sorry about your dog

Also, if possible find a vet whose practice is limited to felines, or at least
companion animals. This is ranching country, and most vets' practices are
predominantly livestock. The extra drive for us to a strictly companion-animal
clinic is well worth the trouble.

I got very lucky: while perhaps not the very best from a medical point
of view, one of the lowest cost vets in this area, and the one
recommended to me many years ago, is also one of the most open and
most conscious of the fact that not everybody is rich - several times
I have had to press for a more expensive, but more convenient
treatment (one shot ear mite treatment for a hard to catch cat, for
instance).  They were mentioned in a local newspaper some time ago for
taking on an injured stray cat without asking who would pay for it,
after another vet had insisted on money up front.

If you hold her and pet her and play with her a lot it will help her to adjust.  Is her litter pan
in s quiet place where she has privacy?  Kittens are frightened by loud noises, so don't play loud
music or yell a lot around her.  Let us know how she is doing.   MLB
