How do I get a cat to re-aclimate to the litter box?

I made the mistake a number of years ago of geting a littermaid.
Now three litter boxes later i've noticed my cats are still scared of
it.   When they get in the box (any litter box) they get in very
quickly, get out very quickly, and sometimes go on the floor.

I would swear that ever since the litter maid they are now
scared to use any litter box for more than a few seconds.

Anyone else had a similar experience?   I got rid of the
littermaid more than a year ago and am now on the
third conventional litter box.

Another side effect of the litter maid: the cats all stopped
burying their stuff.

I'm now leaning towards wishing that I had never gotten
the litter maid.

Between the floor being ruined, spending just much on
various "conventional" litter boxes as I did on the litter maid,
and the smell i'm now of the opinion that getting the littermaid
was the worst decision I ever made.

Since I haven't gotten a response does this mean my cats are
the only ones who have develope an "aversion" to the littermaid
and now has a problem with all litter boxes?

sorry Barnabas, lack of response from the uk is probably because I don't
think that product is available over here - i've certainly never come across
it.  How does/ did it work?
