Do Jewish people feed their cats only kosher cat food?
Would it be against God's law for a Jew to feed their pets pork?
Why is there no pork cat food?
I lie awake at night contemplating thoughts like this.

Having said that, I meant to add that, yes, there are Kosher pet foods for
both dogs and cats. There are even special foods to serve during Passover,
etc.

No. My cats currently get prescription food from the Vet.
> Why is there no pork cat food?
Probably for the same reason there is no mouse flavored cat food.
> I lie awake at night contemplating thoughts like this.
You need to get a life.

You ought to get out of the house more often.

But that's not the point, it is a serious question, intriguing minds
want to know. Cats don't eat beef naturally so why not pork?

On what planet? My cats eat Beef flavored food, cats
are naturally born predators who eat meat.
Canned Iams® Chicken Formula Cat Food
Canned Iams® Lamb & Rice Formula Cat Food
Canned Iams® Ocean Fish Formula Cat Food
Canned Iams® Beef Formula Cat Food
Canned Iams® Turkey & Giblets Formula Cat Food
Canned Iams® Chicken & Salmon Formula Cat Food
Canned Iams® Catfish Formula Cat Food
(the only flavor they won't eat is Lamb and Rice I think
that is because the smell isn't strong enough.)
(Of course I could turn this conversation around and
ask do non-jewish cats object when they have to
eat fish on Fridays? Also does the cat cough up his
lunch when a RC priest molests a child? )

Naturally, as in cats don't kill cows in the wild. Common house cat
that is.
Why are people irked, are there questions that should be forbidden to
ask?

Better you should ask the cats at Temple this Saturday and find out what
they eat.

When was the last time you saw a standard domestic cat kill and eat a
cow?

but the wording was "eat" not "kill".

I'm a non practising jew - my cat doesn't get kosher food cos I'm a
vegetarian and it would mean I'd have to buy meat and cook it for him,
that's interesting though, I wonder if in Israel you can buy kosher cat
food - I guess you probably can if all the meat is kosher anyway, or you can
just feed them the fish varieties so long as there's no meat derivatives in
it.

Hi Masha,
err "kosher" meaning "dipped three times in stumpwater by the light of a
full moon by a vestal virgin and blessed by the Grand Vizier" ? (well,
something like that) or is it a physical constraint (ie: assured to have
no pork products)...
Kidding aside, cats are biologically "obligate carnivores"; they *need*
meat/fish as part of a balanced diet.
