When we first had our lovely cat in late April we were advised to keep
her in for 3 weeks to let her get settled in before she was allowed
outside. We did this, and so far so good - she now goes out and loves
the garden and orchard close by.
She is booked into a cattery for the first 2 weeks in August (so she
will have lived with us for 3 complete months by then) can anyone tell
me please if I will have to keep her in again when she comes home or
will she recognise she's back where she belongs? I'm so in love with
the daft thing I couldn't bear to lose her, but I don't want to have to
have the house shut up to keep her in in the hottest part of our UK
summer if it isn't necessary.
Any help appreciated!

I would keep her inside for one or two days, she'll be happy to be home
again!

She'll be fine once she comes back. She won't have forgotten the
neighbourhood.
I have never had problems with cats getting lost after a stay in a
cattery. I think cats bond to a neighborhood pretty quickly.
Just let her get her bearings once she's home again. In fact, I think
you'll find she'll be really pleased to see you when you go to collect
her.
When I left my two cats in a cattery for the first time for two weeks,
they were a bit fazed by the journey home, but they were really happy
to be home and back to normal. I'd owned them for about 3 months by
then.
