We have a 9 year old Bengal female, Tigger, and we would like to get another
cat.  Tigger grew up with a small dog and we had to have him put down 2 years
ago.  They pretty much co-existed and she definitely ruled the roost but she
watched out for him (meowed at us when his food bowl was empty, etc.) and she
grievevd his death.  We have an opportunity to get an 8 month old Bengal male.
He was kept as a possible stud male by a breeder and they decided not to
breed him.  According to them he is lovable and laid back.  He has been
nuetered.   He has been raised in a home around other cats and dogs.

Will Tigger accept an 8 month old cat as easily (or more easily) than a
younger kitten or would we be better off getting a young kitten?

All you can do is try it out gently.
A young kitten might cause problems if it is too lively, an older cat can
get upset; or does Tigger still like wild games?

Tigger still likes wild games.  In fact, another thought came to mind.  A
larger kitten might be better suited to handle Tigger.  She might be a little
too rough for a small kitten.  We spoke to our vet also, who reminded us that
Tigger has had another animal in the house for 7 of her 9 years and may not
be as traumatized as we expect.  The only time she reacted badly is when we
stayed for an extended period of time with relatives who had two cats and
that was understandable because she was the visitor.  We go to see the kitten
this Friday so hopefully we will be bringing him home.
