Hi, everyone...
I was wondering what type of automatic litter box is the best. I looked at a
"Litter Maid" tonight, but also saw the "Litter Robot" on the internet. What
do people like? I want mainly to curb odors. Any suggestions will be
greatly appreciated. I have 2 cats.

What do people like? I think it is irrelevant... What the cats like is the
most important thing here. An acquaintance of mine had the "litter maid",
but she wasn't overly impressed with it. Neither was her cat, I must
mention. I never heard about "litter robot". Is it noisy?
I also have 2 cats, but all I do is clean up the litter box once a day. I
use clumping litter and every now and then I add zeolite and some litter box
deodorant. Works like magic - nobody knows that there are cats in the house
unless they appear.
Hope this helps. :o) Maggie's Mom.

Pretty much the same here. We have 5 cats and 3 large covered litter
boxes. We scoop religiously at least once and sometimes twice a day. We
use clumping letter and replace completely every every 3-4 weeks.
BTW, what is zeolite, where do you get it, and how do you use it along with
the litter?
Thanks!

What do people like? This person likes something that doesn't make noise and
don't have to worry about getting fixed when it breaks down.

When it comes to curbing odours, I do this by removing the contents of the
litter box daily and if an odor remains, I toss in some Arm & Hammer
Litterbox deoderizer and POOF - the ordor is gone.

I tried the littermaid but cleaning it was difficult. I use deep
storage containers for which I pay about $5. I pour the used litter
through a sifter into a clean box, flush the contents of the sifter
down the toilet, wipe out the used box with disinfectant cleaner,
proceed to next box and repeat. I never dump old litter, I just
replace with fresh as needed. I find this method keeps me odor free.
The lids of the boxes get used under smaller kitten litter boxes or
to hold food and water bowls.

Hi there,
I have 3 cats in a small house and we're in the process of trying to
sell. Odor was a major issue at the beginning as we had comments from
a couple realtors that they could smell the animals even though the
litter boxes had been completely washed the day before and freshly
scooped before they came.
We went to the pet store with this issue and they recommended a wheat
based litter. We've been using it ever since and it seems miraculous
to me. It doesn't smell at all if scooped daily and a nice bonus is
that it doesn't create dust and they don't track it through the house.
I'm not sure of the name of the product... wheat something, it is
expensive, but i've found it to be soooo worth it. :)
