Saw this neat idea on the "inventors" program last week.
Sorry didnt post it earlier as have been away
I think this would work well to train cats to use the household
(human) toilet and save us all a lot of hassle :)
IS anything like this available anywhere at retail ?

I have a couple of problems with this idea:
1. It ties up the toilet from human use, you have to keep this
thing on the toilet hence tying up the bathroom from humans who
want to use it.
2. Paul Harvey had a news item a while back about a guy who complained
that his water bill was something like $125,000 a month. He cancelled
the complaint after he was home sick for
one day. Seems his cat had figured how to flush the toilet and
was flushing it often.
3. With my cats all approaching the elderly years my concern
would be could they scale the heights needed to reach the toilet?

Our cat can hardly keep it in the litter box every so often...I doubt if he
could aim for the center of the toilet ring. I would hate to have to clean
up behind the toilet if he misses.

One of my stock "tests" for any household change is "you get up at 2am
and stumble, half asleep into the bathroom..."... I'm not sure the cat,
doing his business is going to appreciate it much (or vice versa).
That being said, if I wasn't too lazy, I'd train them to use the toilet
anyways.

I think this is a really bad idea for several reasons. Certainly not
the most significant, but personally I'd rather change a litterbox than
clean up the toilet after a cat with a bad aim.
