My wife and I have the opportunity to adopt a young kitten. Question is,
how will our present cat Nutmeg react to the newcomer? She's a 6 year old
neutered female, strictly an indoor cat. Best case scenerio, she has a new
friend. Worst case, she attacks it.
Anyone have experience with this kind of situation?

Nicely and slowly.
I just confront my pets, if it works - fine (it always did so far), if not:
separation and gradual introduction.
Don't neglect the older cat!

I'm 72 years old and have been having cats for at least 60 of those years.
I have had aggressive males but never a female. The kitten will try to make
friends with the older cat which will either respond or smack it away but I
would bet almost anything it won't beat up on it. Even when they're
neutered, most females still have somewhat of a maternal instinct.
