Wet maryweather

I have mentioned before that some of my cats like to go out in the
rain, stomp around in mud puddles, then come in and walk over me, the
bed, other furniture, etc.  Ordinarily they don't do this in heavy
rain, but last night, Maryweather came in about ten minutes after the
thunderstorm began looking like a drowned rat.  I was able to fend her
off long enough to take this picture:
Half an hour later, she was dry, but not interested in walking on me.
The other cats that do the rain thing waited until the storm let up
before they performed the wet cat routine.

Cute picture.  Neat name.

None of our cats every outside.  However, our newest and youngest cat,
Popie, likes to open the sliding shower door when I'm in the shower and
step inside.  She gets almost saturated by the spray, the hops up on a seat
in the shower and grooms her wet fur.  I think she particularly likes to
get her feet wet.

How very weird. My two both abhor water. Except for drinking.

Except for going out in the rain so thay can come back in and put
wet/muddy paw prints everywhere, mine also abhor water except for
drinking, though some of them will wade out into a puddle to drink
from the middle.  Just turning the shower on sends most of them
running - the ones not afraid of the noise vanish a few microseconds
after the overspray hits them.

She's named after a dog comic strip character
(<http://www.dandyandcompany.com/cast/>) - her brother is named after
the lead dog character, Dandy.  Most of my cats that didn't already
have names when I got them are named after web comic strip characters:
Mudpie, Dandy, Maryweather, Avery, Ozy, Millie, Fleagor (Fluffy and
Spooky are older than web comics; Tigger, Snowball, and CJ already had
known names when I got them).  When I was doing the naming, I had
discovered web comics, but hadn't found enough cat characters - now I
have over a hundred names of cat and pseudo-cat characters available.

What absolutely great names!

Ours are far more mundane, although we do have a "Millie", (afer Mildred
Pierce).  The others are Mr. Bailey (after Rumpole of the Bailey), Margaret
(after Margaret Rutherford), PeeWee, PeaNut, and Popie (just for the "P".

In this case (that you have enough names) you can go ahead and adopt a few
more! LOL

A serious question: Ted, how often do you worm your mostly outdoors cats?
I feel I need to worm Micky once a month although he doesn't hunt. But every
three months like the vet suggested doesn't seem enough.
Then my cats eat all out of the same bowl, the vet says then the worms are
catching via saliva :-(
