Did we have an experience with Rexie tonight! Long story short of his
background for those who don't know: Litter of feral Siamese kittens found
by my cousin, she talked me into taking Rexie (at 4 weeks). Bottle 3 times
a nite, training to go to the bathroom, litterbox, etc, I'm mommy, plain and
simple. He's almost 3 now, totally indoors. He and I by ourselves M-F, so
he's people-shy, but big attitude.
I went to clip his nails this evening, I do it all the time, yes he hates it
but we manage to get thru w/mimimal damage to me.
Tonight he went bonkers, snarling, growling, bit my thumb, the little sh_t!
Hubby took him from me to lend a strong male voice as discipline. Rex wanted
down, but Jim held him to calm him down. Now this is the weird part. Rexie
almost NEVER lets Jim hold him. He's MY baby.
But Rexie lay on Jim, with minimal-to-no holding on Jim's part. Rexie just
lay there, ears back, and every minute or so, you'd hear the growl. You
Siamese owners know that growl - scary! But he stayed on Jim for a good 5
minutes! Don't know if he thought Jim was protecting him from me (cause he
bit me), or if Rex was just pissed at me and back-talking.
We're going thru some stuff now, as Rexie's on a diet (you can see previous
posts), and yesterday we went thru the trauma of going to the vet (he hates
the car and being 'manhandled') to be weighed.
I probably should have waited a day or two longer before clipping the nails,
but this was a temper tantrum, pure and simple. We're fine now, but it
lasted about 10 minutes total!
Weird?
PS: He actually lost 3 oz. Dr. Lucy was pleased!

A Siamese is perfectly capable of having a fit of temper.
Our first one went into a snit when Charlie got transferred to the Pentagon
for six months. The cat moved out of the house, into the orchard. He would
come into the house to eat. Wouldn't even look at me the entire time
Charlie was gone.
Charlie came home, the cat moved back into out house and our bed like
nothing had ever happened.

Otis, the Siamese cross regularly has temper tantrums.
When Jane was born, and she was a screamer, Otis lived outside all the time
too. Stayed out all night. Barely looked at me when he came home and peed
all over her things and her room if the door was left open.
Otis' temper tantrums have been refined over the years to two great
standbys. Walking to the middle of the room, squatting like a dog, and
peeing. The other is jumping onto the alarmed window screen in the middle
of the night and trying to pull it out of the frame.
And he has the same passion towards being with his person too. He is velcro
kitty with a temper.

Not a temper tantrum, he just doesn't like it anymore and won't tolerate it.
I take mine to Petsmart and even those who hate it done at home behave
fairly well there.

Sounds about normal. ;-) Although I have yet to be bit for nail trimming.
Growled at, hissed at...yep sure. No...I get bit for no reason what so
ever. ;-)
Lexie gets pissy when we run out of wet cat food. She takes it out on
everybody!

Rex is a beautiful boy.
We get guff from Nocturne all the time. Her new favourite retaliation
is to drop the bedside lamp on our heads while we sleep.
Don't let Rex read that--he'll get ideas :)

lol Nocturne sounds like my Peeve! She likes to pick up on earring at a
time and drop it on the hardwood floor just to get my attention during the
night! lol

Is Nocturne a Siamese? Lexee did that with a fan when we were fostering
her. It was the day we were supposed to take her down for an adoption day
at a Petsmart. I guess she figured that if she dropped a fan on our heads
we wouldn't take her there. Well....she did end up adopting us soon after
that. ;-)
