My cat seems to have a great obsession with plastic bags and boxes. She
likes to crawl into the bags and boxes and lay there. She likes to roll
around and jump around and i dont mind her playing in them when Im not
around...but when Im gone I put them up. But she manages to get into the
cabinets to play with them. Do all cats do this???

Mine loves bags and boxes too, but as soon as she manages to figure
out any of the cabinets around the house, I'm installing child-locks
on them.

She already figured out how to open the closet door (which is like a
big cabinet door)  so now I keep a suitcase in front of it at all
times

Mine can open the closet doors and after I put the toilet paper into the
hall linen closet she surprised me one afternoon when I came home from work.
She had opened it and had chewed up the toilet paper.  How's that for a
"welcome home mommy"?

Maybe I should get those child locks for my cabinets before she learns
to open them.   I buy the big economy size packages of toilet paper.

I put child locks on them but my cat is petite, she squeezes through. she
can even fit through the bottom of a door, 1 1/2 inches from the ground at
most. the vet said its not a bad thing except habit, bc she isnt bruised or
hurt from it. Maybe i should just install locks on cabinet doors. LOL.

I don't mind if the cats are in the closet. Cindy even moved her litter into
it.
It's only bad if you lock the door for days by mistake.
They don't really do any harm in there, do they?

That depends on if you hang your clothes in the closet.

I don't remember your previous posts (except that Cindy had her
kittens), but I'd make sure the only thing on the closet floor was the
box (if that's what they're in) with a blanket/whatever in it... you
don't want kittens getting lost in there (I'm not kidding).

Bit of strong tape over the latch mechanism... though unless you're
actually away for days at a time, you'd notice.

Litters of kittens have cost me somewhat in clothing (they always pick a
favorite shirt)

Well, I only left them in there for a short while, they would certainly make
a mess.
But all my cats like to sit on the pile of clothes or in the socks box.
Unless they are shedding badly I can't see a problem. But then there are
mostly jumpers or clothes that I use for horse riding.
Not the nice stuff that's being used for work :-)

About the kittens: What worries me is the toilet lid. Apparently if they
fall into the water head forward they are dead because they can't help
themselves.
Someone said this is a mayor cause for deaths of kittens. So there's a big
note on the lid at the moment and I sneak after people to check ...

When they're newborn they can get misplaced

heheh so horse/human smells? sounds like a natural.

:( that never occurred to me... though I'd think that if they're big
enough to jump onto the toilet, they're big enough to keep out of the drain.

Well if they can overcome an enclosure 1 metre high, which they did at three
this morning, then they can jump onto the toilet seat too.
They then came galloping into my bedroom and jumped on the bed easily.

Good idea, just - they dunno the ABC yet :-)

Recently (mostly thanks to reading this NG) it's occurred to me that one
of my "girls" might be mostly silent because her throat was injured as a
kitten (I had to disentangle her few times from a hockey net); something
to check out next vet visit, thanks all.
