I have three cats and two litter boxes. The litter boxes are the
high-sided and enclosed kind because one of the cats is such an
enthusiastic digger, she flings litter all over the place. The newest
cat is a walking furball with tufts of fur between his toes. This seems
to trap litter between his furry toes and results in litter all over
the house.

I've seen litter mats at the pet store. Do they really work? At
present, I've got washable rugs in front of the litter boxes, but they
aren't doing much to solve the problem. In the greater scheme of
things, this isn't a huge problem, but I am getting really tired of
vacuuming every other day.

I use the plastic mats you can get at Petco with the little nubbly things
all over them but they don't work.  The cats still drag litter onto the
floor and up a flight of stairs.

Would one of these carpets help that you put in front of doors to collect
the visitor's dirt?
I find that cats carry fine litter around more than the bigger types.

Thanks to everyone who posted. I'll try a box of course litter media
next.
