I'm sure there are more than this one, but the "blister beetle" (I
don't know the proper term) is highly toxic for animals to ingest, and
can even kill livestock. They emit a poison that is even comparable to
strychnine. Catharidin? Something like that.
I wonder though, if a cat would actually eat one.

Two of my cats used to go outside but we're keeping them in now. The
June bug or Japanese beetles are starting to come out of the ground and
of course the hunters have to go after them. Snick ate two that I could
see in her vomit all that was left was the shell.

Oh, don't worry about June bugs. Mine eat them all the time. They are
*everywhere* right now. They probably gave her an upset tummy,but
they're not toxic.
