Oops, the last thing I want is for her to get pregnant again. Can she really
be on heat only 1 month after giving birth? Would it be safe to have her
done so soon after becoming a mum?
Thanks

Yep, they go into heat several times in a row. The stray we took in last
year was pregnant and she went into heat about 6-8 weeks after giving
birth. She was miserable!
Hope you can get her spayed as soon as is practical. If she is secluded
from male cats, I'd probably wait another month or so to have her spayed
-- a time when the kittens are nursing less. Talk to your vet about
that, though. If she's in danger of getting pregnant again now, talk to
the vet and see if she could be spayed now. I would be concerned about
the kittens hurting the incision site, but you don't want another batch
of kittens...

My mom cat will get spayed on Monday. My vet *insists* that I bring her when
the kittens are five weeks old.
According to her it's too long waiting until the kittens are weaned around
10 weeks old.
She says nursing the kittens should be no problem for a cat just spayed.
The cat book says that a cat can get pregnant right after having given
birth.
