I've had 2 cats for 8 years, I adopted them together 1 male 1 female both
fixed, different litters. About 4 years ago, they would have occasional
disagreements with each other, usually in April (I figured it was just the
"in heat" or in "pretend heat" as they were both fixed) It got so bad,
that I had to seperate them. Now this is happening 2-3 times per day for
the past 3 months or so... especially if I get another cat "visiting" on my
porch. They try to go after the strange cat, then turn on one another.
Lately, for no apparent reason, and any given time during the day/night,
they attack each other.... Any ideas on why this could be happening so
frequently all of a sudden?

Are the cats indoors only?
I know I get myself into troubles saying this, but indoor only cats have
more behavioural issues, that's why it's better to keep two of them; and
they need plenty of stimulation (playing times, cat tree and the like).
If your cats can go outside then I would just let them fight it out by
themselves.

Thanks for the info... They are indeed indoor only cats. I am in the
process of moving also, so I believe they may be a bit "tense" from that
also.. I will definitely keep an eye on them, and hopefully in my new
house things will settle down a bit. Thanks again, Karen

You might want to place cat repelent outside your house. Your cats may be
stressing over the other cats that are marking the territory and they can
smell and here it. They can not chase the other cats away so it gets taken
out on eachother.
