Saturday I took in my twelth cat (not counting my neighbor's Mickey
who lived with me for half a year): CJ is a small, longish haired,
black and white intact male, young but of unknown age. One of his
previous humans was alergic to him so he's been living outside for a
while. That explains why his coat was muddy and matted and why he was
tick, and probably flea, infested - I gave him a Frontline treatment
even before bringing him home.
He's afraid of being approached, but once picked up, he is sweet,
loves being petted, and purrs strongly. He has met (one at a time)
most of the resident clowder - all except Snowball, I think, and they
have all more or less accepted him ... until last night when he meowed
all night and annoyed some of them who hissed and spit back at him.
Since he so readily uses the carrier as a refuge, I decided to let him
out of the bathroom with some of the other (mostly harmless) cats
present, and that worked fine until he started the crying thing - he
wants *outside*.
He's scheduled for neutering Tuesday.
I haven't been able to get a good picture - in fact none is possible
until he's had the mud and mats removed (I'll ask the vet to do that
because I can't do it without hutring or at least stressing him, and I
don't want him to think of me as causing distress. The one poor
picture (in a window, backlighted by brightly lit grass, trees,
pavement, etc.) and snatched while rushing to get ready to leave for
work is <http://gearbox.maem.umr.edu/tdavis/cats/2005/cj_1.jpg>.

Congratulations!! one more and you can order promotional items from
13cats.com and wear them with pride :) a friend of mine got up to a dozen,
and I joked with her that she needed one more. Im at 6 at the moment, but
one of my foster kittens has a coordination problem, and while she's only
three weeks old, Im totally considering keeping her (but don't tell the
hubby yet)

Maybe the kitten will grow out of it. When a stray pregnant cat was dropped
off & had 4 kittens (that's how I went quickly from 2 to 7 cats) the
smallest didn't keep up w/the rest in coordination. I thought she was
stepped on or born w/it. But she is 8 months now and the most playful of all
of them.
I still hope you keep her though : )

I am hoping that.. but she started attempting to walk about a week before
the others and completely falls over when she walks. Ive never had a kitten
do this in the past. I didn't think much of it at first cause she was so
young when she started, but now her siblings all walk like the other kittens
their age do, where she still will fall right on her back. Nothing I can do
for her one way or another, so I can only watch and love her to pieces.

He is beautiful!! God bless you for taking him and so many others in. I have
seven, but that's my hubby's limit. Good luck with all your babies
