Please can someone make me feel better?  We just had our first cat,
mainly because the kids wanted one, and I've sooooooooo fallen in love
with her it isn't true! anyway, we've kept her in the house as advised
for 3 weeks and have just now started taking her into the garden with us
- trouble is she's nibbling at every plant in sight and I'm scared to
death she'll poison herself.

It is not going to be practical to keep her indoors all the time, we
have as I said, children and during the summer they are in and out all
day long, also we have French doors which are always open all summer
when we are home - and when the weather is good enough (we're in the
UK), and no way will my husband agree to having the house shut up all
the time - come to that I don't want to live that way myself. Husband
also points out that even if we uprooted every plant in our garden, no
way could we get the neighbours to do the same.  Plus there are several
local cats who have been hale and hearty for years, so they obviously
haven't poisoned themselves yet.....but still I worry!

Any useful anti-worrying advise would be appreciated - blimey, I worried
less than this when the children were babies!

Jayne,
You can only do so much to protect your little kitty,  if you
have
a look here http://www.geocities.com/taliskercats/plants.html it will tell
you all the known plants that can make cats ill the ones marked ** are
deadly and the others are known to cause upset but not death, just make
sure you dont have this in your garden, you cant control every gardean

Your cat at the moment is new to the world and very curious about everything
and will probably grow out of eating plants.
