I adopted an 8 year old cat from a shelter about 7 months ago. I have to
watch all the time it when it is near my other cat because it will pounce
and start a fight. Today the other cat licked him on the head and the
aggressive cat started a fight. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's a tough one since it's already been 7 months. Most issues would have
been resolved by now. You might consider giving him/her one of the natural
products that calm cats down. I don't know the names.

One of the ways trhat cats assert dominence is by grooming the
submissive cats. So the 'aggressive' cat didn't start the
confrontation, the other cat did.
