new cat/running crazy

Hello,
Further to the below,!!!
Everything has been going quite well. Both Puss and Algae have been
tolerating each other. This is where the fun begins. As soon as hubby and I
go to bed, they start!!, Running, chasing each other around the house, some
hissing etc. It is crazy!!. Why when we go to sleep,??
When we are up, they chase each other a little, but when the lights are out
, they start torking around. Puss seems to be the aggressor more than Algae.
Algae love to sleeps with us in the Bed, were Puss just liked a little
cuddles then left.
Perhaps it is Jealousy?? We did try to put them downstairs, and also shut
our bedroom door, but all we get is scratching by Algae. We cannot separate
for we are in a small house and the litter is in the basement,
Your comments and ideas would be great.

Mine pretty much do the same thing....
I get the feeling it sort of
a "wild kitty energy" build up and they race to play and get rid of it.

They hiss too, but never really fight fight (ie biting and blood etc)

I have one cat who normally using hissing as part of the racing playing
thing...but she often is the instigator of the moment. I think its her way

Not sure just how long you have had them. Perhaps with time the hissing
will decrease,

But my cats, never fail, always race around at night

Nighttime is hightime for cats!
It's boring when you sleep. So they create their own entertainment.
Yesterday we had a storm here so I kept cat inside at daytime. Because there
was nothing much going on he slept during most of the day. But when I went
to bed he started going crazy like never before: He attacked me several
times in the bed, my toes, even the dog that was sleeping there too. I heard
noises from him during the whole night, and in the morning I found four
destroyed toilet rolls in the bathroom, paper all over the place :-)
And guess what - now he's tired...
Well what I want to say is that most cats are active during the night. It's
their hunting time. I try and sleep through it all.

... because cats are nocturnal. When you turn off the light to go to bed, it
turns on the cats' instincts to play predatory games.

that, and they will adapt to your sleeping schedule. we both work graveyard
shifts. so, skittles has adjusted her schedule so that she's awake during
the *day*, when we try to sleep.

it's fine until she starts attacking our feet. ouch.
