She died this morning at 6.10am (local time, Western Australia, Monday the
25th of April).
Those of you who have followed her story will know how much she is going to
be missed. She fought a hard battle against the inevitable for the past two
weeks, but ultimately it was just her time to go. She had a very peaceful
end, and was in no pain.
She had so much fight in her, so much life. It's hard to believe she's
really gone. But I feel blessed to have had her share her life with me for
that short couple of months, and privileged to have been able to comfort her
at the end.
Thankyou to everyone who emailed and posted here with your kind thoughts. I
appreciate it more than I can say that you saw what a special cat she was,
and for your purrs for Princess. She was just one of the most amazing gifts
I've ever received (I hope this is making some sense, I'm still just a bit
stunned, I knew it was coming but it's never easy to let go of an animal you
love).
I'll be updating the Princess home page some time later in the week, I'm
putting together a celebration of her short time with me, but for now I just
wanted to let you all know: her fight is over, and she's resting in peace at
last.

Aw Tara, I'm so sorry to hear that. You fought valiantly to save her, and
at the very least you have her love and a good home for the last days of her
life. She's young again and healthy now and I'm sure she'll find lots of
good friends who owned people here waiting for her.
I'll burn a candle tonight to help light her path to the bridge and we'll be
sending purrs to help heal your broken heart.

Oh I read the subject line and got all teary. Then the tears came when I
read your message. I've only been posting here a short time, but my first
day posting was when you'd posted a link for a video of Princess. I'm so
sorry for your loss but am glad she is in peace now. Her life was a sad one
but was brightened by you for the last of it. I know she'll be forever
grateful. You are a very special person to fight for her the way you did.

Tara:
I wish to extend my condolences and sympathy to you, upon the crossing of
Rainbow Bridge by your beloved feline friend Princess.
Having recently lost a furbaby myself, (Munchkin, 19 years, 2 months, purr
purr) I know all too well that hollow ache, the granite-heavy pain. They
grow so completely close to our hearts that when they leave, they take a
piece of us with them.
Consoling hugs and tears in sympathy, Melody

I've just come to Princess' story, but I wanted to let you know you
have my deepest sympathy. Five years ago my husband and I adopted a
cat who looks very much like Princess. She was seven years old and had
been turned in to the Oregon Humane Society. We took her within
literally minutes of her being euthanized.
And we very often refer to her as Princess.

I'm sorry, Tara. It is indeed difficult to let go of beloved animal
companions. As others have pointed out though, you gave her love and care
at the end of her life, and eased her passage over the bridge.

I am so sorry.
Think of this--she spent her last four months being loved, with enough
to eat, clean, dry, warm, and with someone who cared for her. She
passed peacefully, not scared and starving and dirty and alone. You
were as much a gift to her as she was to you. Would we were all so
lucky to be so secure at our time to cross.

She sounds like she was a tough little girl as well as a little lady, and
know she'll be missed. It's so hard to lose someone so important. But she's
in a place where it is always pleasant and catnip is ever abundant, and kids
who've never got to meet a wonderful cat in life now have their chance. Many
prayers for you, too, to help you through and dig through the pain to find
the joy in her memory.
Blessed be,

I am very sorry about your loss. I hope this helps. remember no mater what,
you gave her a chance a chance that would never have happened if you had not
given it, a place to be, a place to be loved and most of all a reason for
being. She carried that in her heart,to the other side, to that place she
will wait and play. Waiting for that time when you come to get her. Cry if
you must butt remember she's not really gone, she just left that part of her
here that couldn't go with her. She carries a part of you in her heart just
as you carry a part of her with you. hugs to you,

At the very end, when she needed it most, you came along and gave her a
loving home.
But for you, she would have died much sooner, without knowing your love
and caring.
And when her time came, she died in your arms, knowing she was not
alone.
There is no greater gift you could have given her.
