okay, here's the deal, my former cat just died from a massive stomach tumor
and liver failure... upon replacing this cat with another (my wife was
severely distraught, I thought it might help) the new cat came into the
house and has dissappeared... we've checked every window and door, there's
no way we can tell that the cat could have gotten out of the house,
nonetheless we've ripped this place apart and still can't find him.... any
ideas??? PLEASE???

Just a quick suggestion here:
Did you try looking up under the "dust cover" on your sofa or chair?
Cats seem to like to hide in those places.

Good thought. Another place we "lost" a new cat was, there was a hole
underneath the box springs cover. The cat climbed up in the box springs
and hid.
Put out food in several rooms and see if it's gone in the morning. Then
you'll know for sure he's still in the house.

Update - The lost kitty has been found... there was a vent hole in the side
of the dryer we had forgotten about since it had not been a real issue with
the last cat... this is one of three very difficult hiding places the cat
has been found in tonight, helping him live up to his new name Houdini.

Thanks for the suggestions, we were freaking out, it's been a rough day...
