Ear still

Micky came home with two small but deep scars on his ear. It looks like he
got hit by another cat, they could be scratches from claws.
The ear turned red and hot, I guess infected. I put some cream on. Now
everything has healed, but - the hair has gone on about a third of the ear.
Why? Will it grow again? If not, he'll get sunburnt in summer.

It could be the next time Micky gets a scar, it'll be from head to tail from
being ran over from a vehicle.  Micky will be unrepairable when you pick him
up from the pavement with a shovel.  To keep this from happening, KEEP MICKY
INSIDE.  If you don't, then keep your silly healing questions to yourself.

Thanks for your most friendly response. But you might get from my post that
other cats are outside in our area too - otherwise Micky could not have got
involved in a fight. Here everybody lets their cats outside.
Please be more constructive the next time. Do you own cats yourself?

...and those cats should STAY INSIDE too!  ...a proven fact that indoor cats
will live longer.  You and I should know how to avoid outside dangers but do
our loving cats?

Yes, I was quite abrupt but it boils me to see those that do not take care
of their animals in the way they should.  I don't like to get into the
'outdoor /v/ indoor' thing ...will not do it again.  If your cat get ran
over and smashed flat as a pancake, then I hope you will remember the
warnings.  I do hope your kitties will live a long life ...they will with
your help.

impose your views and morals....

Hi Carola. Yes, it will grow back, but it might take a couple of months. Don't
be surprised if it grows back a different color--that happened to one of mine
on an injury site.

probably. My cat tends to get itchy flea bites and scratches himself
furless. Takes about a fortnight for the fur to show again and two to
foour months to reach full length. Since I got some anti allergy cream
off the vet though its not re-occured.
