Okay, so I have two problems, both related, hopefully both can be taken care
of with the same solution.
Problem one: I have five cats - one male, four females, all 'fixed'. The
male, Boo, has decided to make it his goal in life to torment the girls.
It's not normal playing, it's knockdown, dragout quasi-mating behavior.
Sometimes it's just a dive bomb attack. Others he grabs the back of their
neck (and bear in mind he has teeth like a vampire - never seen 'em this
long in a cat before). He doesn't do this ALL the time mind you, but often
enough that two of the cats hiss whenever he gets within five feet. (other
than that he's a sweet cat. Total momma's boy.)
Problem two: Esmerelda is a cat we adopted as a stray. She never had
litterbox problems at the start. Lately she has gotten kinda lazy in that
department. I think it stems from two factors. 1) when she does use the box,
Boo charges up to her and usually scares her away from it. (he has a fetish
with burying poo.. wierd cat) As far as Boo-Esme relations go, she's
probably the least fond of him at this point. 2) It seems like she's more
likely to use the box when it's freshly changed. Not just scooped, but clean
box, new litter, etc. If it's been used she tends to look for other spots.
I'm not sure if she's just more sensitive to the smell or if the particular
smell of Boo irritates her..
So those are the problems. Any thoughts in general would be helpful. I'm
also curious if trying Feliway might help both issues.

Have you got enough litter boxes around? To add another one might help and
be an easy solution.

I have three boxes in her self designated "poo area" (and there are others
in the apartment). One is covered, she liked that one for a bit but now
ignores it. The other two are uncovered and she uses both (when she uses the
box). I had both filled with the crystal litter and she seemed to like it
for a time. Now I'm trying a new approach. One of 'her' boxes has crystals,
the other has clumping sand. I'm thinking maybe she likes to urinate in the
crystals and poo in the sand.. We shall see... ::sigh::
