I don't know about everyone else but I have loved cats for as long as I can
remember. Even as a kid I would have my cats doing tricks. There is
something so fascinating about them. Maybe its their aloofness,or their
ability to amuse themselves with the most unusual objects that draws me to
them. They don't always have the faithfulness of dogs for they are
affectionate at their time and place not ours.I'm sure I could go on and on
but thats just a few thoughts of mine. Larry

Is it the fact that we love them so much, or is it that we envy them? I
know that there are days that I wish that I could just fall asleep at
whim. I have also been known to wish that I could be as aloof and
carefree as they are. Well, at least it seems that way to us. I believe
that they are probably thinking that they are just doing their jobs. LOL
Don't get me wrong, I love my two furballs to death, and heaven forbid
that anything should happen to them before I feel that we have had
enough time together. The above is just a thought.  Jacquie.

If you are asking about evolution, their ability to kill mice is useful.
Lions and Tigers are also beautiful and they don't hunt mice.  Chickens kill
scorpions and they're not attractive.  I think that cats, dogs, and horses
are attractive.  Pigs are not and cows are average.

Cats and dogs have evolved the ability to be loving pets.  I wonder how long
it will take roaches to evolve the same skill.

And how about *wasps*?
I believe the nice fur coat some pets have helps them and us, I mean a
handful of fur in your hand or arms *is* great, isn't it?
That also shows in the fact that you don't like pigs or chickens. Some
people have pigs as pets though, even in flats, and they would never ever
part with them.

This in response to Mike Rhino's response to my "Why we love cats" posting.
Mike you don't sound like a cat lover nor an animal lover, and I note a bit
of sarcasm in your response. As far as the evolution of cats behavior, I
believe God created them as they are so we could love them and in return
they give us great pleasure by just being who they are. But I find beauty
in all of God's creatures(even pigs) and I can't imagine life without them.
If you know anything about the history of cats they have been reveered by
the earliest civilizations especially the Egyptians, and yet they were seen
by some as posessing demon spirits, and persecuted for that.If you were a
cat lover you would'nt have such a cold response, I hope you can apreciate
all of Gods creation in animals.Larry

I quite like your reply.
