Howdy,
finally trapped the stray barn cat
taking her to the vet tomorrow,
would be great if I could get her fixed, of course,
don't know if they'll be able to do that with a walk-in,
so for now, what essential shots etc would you suggest
for a "barn cat" tomorrow / Friday.

Good that you caught the cat.
Just give her the lot, whatever the vet suggests,
and get her wormed/treated for ear mites.

want to do everything and anything which could add up the $, which
I really don't want to sell my car, mortgage the house and move in
with my ex

I'd agree with that suggestion. Your vet will know what vacs and meds are
needed for your area.
On the spaying issue.. My vet will spay a cat, even if they've *just* had
their first vaccination. I took in a stray and had her tested, vaccinated
and spayed all in one go. Your vet may be different, but it never hurts to
ask.

I agree with the others. Ask your vet what is required in your area. Here
I would definitely have to get the Rabies, required by the county I live in.
Exaple If our "feral" friend that loves our porch but won't let us get near
bit someone animal control would come catch it and put it down if we had no
proof that the cat had a current rabies shot. Several months ago my sister
in laws cat bit me and broke the skin. I did not think anything of it but
when I got back home I had a huge bruise. And happened to have a dr appt
for my the next day. My doctor when told what happened was ready to call
animal control in the next state over and have the cat picked up until I
convinced him that I knew the owner and would be able to get proof that the
cat had indeed had it's shots.
And as far as spaying if she is at least 6 months I would definitely ask
about if they could do it same day.

I your vet does not spay "walkins" ask if he knows of anyone who does. In my town there
is a "Spay And Nueter Clinic" which only does that. They work with the Humane Society
which helps pay for it if a person can not afford it.
Good luck

Received the usual: Exam, Distempter,Rabies, FIV test,
and of course....Neuter....for $225
Barny is in the formal dog room in a large dog crate for the
next week while he heals from the surgery, and then, I wll
take him back over tot he barn and release him.

...oh, not a typo,
the little guys have a whirlpool, massage table, heated swimming pool
:o)
(yeah, I guess it should have been...
Former ;o)
Agreed, the $225 was a little lower then I was expecting.
I kinda set a $300 limit on rescuing this little guy, and, yep, came
in well under "budget".

Oh, like "wellness" for pets? Do you think any cat would fancy a whirlpool
though?
Thank you for doing this!
Make them check his ears too and give him anti worm and flea stuff. This
does not cost much but is a real blessing for a cat.
I like the name!
