Yes, the vet says they don't feed or water them until the NEXT morning after
spaying, so they will have none for about 33 hours.

The no water part makes no sense. Are you sure you understood correctly?

Well then either you misunderstood or your vet is an idiot. At my hospital
they get no food/water the night before and day of, but as soon as they're
completly awake from anesthesia, they can have food and water..

I'm absolutely positive about the food. I didn't ask this time becuase I
had the two males neutered a month ago and that's when I asked about when
they would get fed. They definitely said not till in the morning because all
they will do is throw it up anyway. Maybe I assumed that meant water, too,
but you are all right, surely they can have water. I can call at 3:00 p.m.
to check how they did and I'll ask again then.
Thanks for your input.

I'm so glad I was wrong. They are doing fine and do get water, just no food
till tomorrow. They will be picked up by 8:00 a.m, believe me, and get fed.
Thanks again!!!

I just had my girl kitten done and the doctor said I could feed her when I
got her home, but don't be surprised if she didn't eat for a while...she was
ravenous..I actually took the food away so she wouldn't eat too much, too
fast and get sick...check with the Dr. again.

That's weird - every general anaesthetic any cat I've known has had is
allowed to eat and drink until the night before, and lightly the evening
after the procedure.
