Today I went to a large charity second hand shop to find equipment for my
friends who are looking for a cat.
All I found was a pile of excellent cat books.
I learned today about magnetism:
Tests prove that cats react in a very sensitive way towards earth magnetism.

This is the reason why
- cats find their way home even if it's a long distance
- cats can sense earthquakes and volcanic eruptions before we do
- cats were meant to be bewitched (because they could sense things before
humans did)

But I can't chat any more now, I have to carry on reading ... !!

I've often wanted to know more about this stuff.

I heard if you put a harness on a cat with strong magnets on it they can't
find their way home which proves what you say.

In Britain in World War 2, during the blitz, cats were often the first to
know German bombers were approaching, many households reported their cat
calmly strolling down to the air raid shelter a full 5-10 minutes before the
sirens went off; either they heard the planes over the channel, or like
earthquakes they felt the vibrations through their pads.

I read their whiskers can pick up electromagnetism in the air as well,
pretty amazing arsenal of technology on board the little dudes!

Catwatching, the essential guide to catwatching
by Desmond Morris

There are all sorts of interesting things in it, also why the English say
"It's raining cats and dogs".
In earlier days a lot of cats and young dogs drowned in the old type water
drains when there was a heavy rainfall.

I'll second any recommendations on that one, it's a great book.
