Our vet prescribed this food for our fat cats, but at $25 for a ten
pound bag, it's really expensive. Is there a lower cost equivalent
that can be bought from pet or super market stores?

Hi Frank, I use Flint River Ranch Cat and Kitten Food - and my cats love
it. http://www.flintriver.com/ It's about the same price though. 40 lbs is
about $80.00 let's see, that's about $20.00 or 2.00 per lb. Free delivery
though I also put out Meow Mix hairball formula which they kind of snack on.
No more hacking, haven't seen a hair ball in months. They have lost weight.
The one cat was getting weird looking before, like her body was too big for
her little butt. She has slimed down and does seem to have more energy. I
also give them wet food, ? of a 5 ounce can, but they usually leave some of
it. They also are drinking more water.

That's too bad. The best way to get a cat to lose weight is by feeding a
good quality canned food and counting calories. You can read one cat's
