My neighbors just got a little kitten. It's front paws are turned inward and
it walks on what I would guess were her ankles. Doesnt seem to bother the
cat one bit, it runs around and plays like any other kitten. My question is,
is this something that can be or should be fixed. Thanks.

It's a birth defect. Some people call them twisty cats and one jerk was
actually breeding them for awhile. We had one, the vet told us she would
probably only live 3-4 years. She died at about 3 1/2. Until the day she
died she was fine and we were very happy to have had her. Your neighbor's
cat doesn't sound likes she's having any problem with it. Just tell your
friend to give her extra love just in case her life is shorter than other
cats. Friends tried to tell us we should have ours put down when she was a
kitten, but we're glad we didn't. She was on of our biggest joys during her
life and one of our best memories now.

Teri, Scotter is absolutely adorable! She and you are especially blessed,
and I praise you for giving her the extra attention and love.

Skooter is a beautiful little girl. It may not have been a close relative.
Our cat's (Alexandria E. Cat, a.k.a. Alley Cat) mother (Pandora) is
polydactyl. She's still around and is 16 now. There was only 2 cats in the
litter, the other (Trouble) is normal physically and will be 13 in a couple
months. The vet figured it was probably the polydactyl gene that caused the
problem. That or being pushed up against a rib.
Hopefully your Skooter is like our Alley and is exceptionally loving.
Skooter is just so unbelievably cute. I love her colors and that face is a
heart melter.
May you have many, many years to love that girl.

i'd have your vet check the kitten...
but as long as the kitty seems to be happy and not in pain...
i guess you should not worry about it too much

sounds like 6 toes
cat has coped already
she did the best with what she is born with
and probably has all her bases covered
the best thing of life is LIFE
give her a little hug if you figure she did a fun fine thing
hey there are kids on this planet, who will not even get a hug, in their
lives
so laugh when you see a fun thing

we had a kitten like this at the shleter where I volunteer and it turns
out he was missing a bone in both front legs that caused this. He gets
around just fine and doesn't know he is any different. A volunteer
adopted him and he is doing really well. Since a bone was missing there
was nothing to do, this may be what has happened to the kitten your
neighbors have.
