Animal testing companies and products

Dear alt.cats,

My company in the UK is in the process of putting together a list of
companies that carry out unethical animal testing to research, develop, or
produce their products.

The list will be put into a user friendly form and distributed over the
internet free of charge so that those who are against animal testing can
make more informed decisions about their shopping habits. The information
will also be used in the development of a documentary on the subject.

We are asking anyone with knowledge of companies that animal test to get in
contact with us so that we can provide the most comprehensive data possible;
we are interested in any information, but can only add companies to the list
with some solid proof; an excellent case in point would be
www.iamscruelty.com; irrefutable evidence that the Iams company conducts
detestable, cruel and unnecessary experiments on a range of animals.

Obviously video evidence or a stolen memo isn't always possible; point us to
newspaper articles, magazine articles, books, other databases and websites,
anti-vivisection organisations, anything that legitimizes what you have to
tell us. Most importantly though, provide as much detail as possible, we'll
investigate any leads to see if there is truth in them; we'll be unfamiliar
with products in some countries so try and find out who manufactures it,
what their website is, their customer service phone number, anything!

I've posted this here as I read regularly personally, and know how many
people on the newsgroup love animals dearly and undoubtedly already know
about other lists or useful sites we can look out, if the feedback is good
I'll be looking up other relevant newsgroups so any suggestions in that
arena are also gratefully received.

If you prefer to leave information anonymously to the newsgroups system, you
can e-mail as at admin@coffeefilms.com, where all information will be
treated in the strictest confidence.

My company www.coffeeartsandmedia.com produces award winning independent
film (www.coffeefilms.com), award winning web design
(www.coffeeinternet.com), music management and promotion
(www.coffeeartists.com) and is soon to begin trading as a record label. We
pursue a strong ethical policy with regards to animals and the environment
and are developing a slate of documentaries focusing on conservation issues,
endangered species, and cruelty to animals, which factor in profit shares
for organisations and charities involved in the relevant sector. We are
registered in England and Wales number 4672034.

Many thanks,

Steve Piper

I have no idea why my mail account was set up to my girlfriends ancient
email, but please don't reply directly to the first posting, I won't get it!

Your "company"?

What business are you in?

As the message says;

We are researching a film documentary on the subject of animal testing and
already have a partial list, we thought it would be useful to make the list
publicly available but as a result wanted to make it more comprehensive.

Okay - I tend towards skepticism when people start talking about "animal
testing".  It sounds like you're making a good faith effort to insure
that you're not just going to repeat frivolous claims though.

I can't help you with your list, but if you ever want to compile one
about mistreatment of human employees I'll give you my employer -
hopefully former employer by the time you get to that project ;-)

No worries Mike, I understand the skepticism, due to the obvious legal
implications we want to insure anything we state publicly is most definitely
the truth!

Here's a list. I hope if you are using any products from the companies
listed below, that you will discontinue to do so unless they have stated
that they are no longer doing so.

That's a great list, thanks Judy.

We're busy phasing out everything that comes up and we encourage our
employees, associates, freelancers and clients to do the same; our list idea
originally came from a memo listing P&G products as animal tested.
