My four year old cat Tiny has started snoring.  She only does it during her
day time sleeping.  At first  we thought it was really cute, but it seems
to be getting louder and I'm starting to wonder if anything is wrong.
She's a little overweight but not bad.  I have sleep apnea myself, so I'm
worried she might have it.

Does your cat snore?

Can cats have sleep apnea?

Inquiring minds want to know.

We have a couple of cats that snore.  Ping (siamese) moans & grunts when
in a deep sleep.  Mimi (moggie), purrs a lot, and when she snores in her
squeaky voice, it comes out like chirping.  Smokey (moffy - 13 years
old) moans like Ping does.

Charles, my Buddha snores. She is 10 and very overweight, with
arrythmia and an overactive thyroid.
Time for your baby to have a vet checkup? That might put your mind at
ease.

I'd say the overweight does it, so start from there

Three of my four cats snore.

One of my cats that snores also had sleep apnea.  The vet is considering
medication, but I don't know what it is.

I would be interested to hear what medication he is suggesting.  There
is no medication for human sleep apnea.  You have to use a CPAP machine.
I don't think they make them cat sized, but if they do, I'd like to see
somebody get a cat to wear one of these darn masks!

If we get that far with it, I'll post about it.  Yes, I can just see Bailey
wearing a mask!  Although, he is very submissive.  I can put a bow on top
of his yead and he leaves it there, or cover him with a blanket and he'll
sleep for hours.

3 out of 4 cats have sleep apnea
and so do you

i guess that does not mean much to you

as a ventilation technicain
i would say move, very soon.

imperative
tlk to your doctor soon

ideas a  home full of new carpets is really bad
cheap new wood products, oftern contain formaldyhydyhde.
if your cross ventilation is poor, you and the cats will suffer.

at least open your bedroom window at night
