Hello I have rescently dicovered this web site and I think it is great.  I
am from North Carolina and my cat Meya came into my life about 31/2 yrs
ago.  I had been having alot of problems at that time.  I had lost my
newborn daughter in a tragic situation and had never even gotten the chance
to be a mother or hold her in my arms.  I relocated my home from the
suburbs to the beach in my greeving proccess in order to try a new
beginning and see new faces.  I met some new friends and went to there
house for a football party. (redskins still didn't win) Well as soon as I
walked in the door Meya came running and began to rub her body on my leg.
I immediatly fell in love with her white and grey patches of fur and sweet
personality.  The lady of the house began to tell me that Meya had been
abandoned by her former roomate.  She went on to say that she was certain
the girl was never coming back she had been gone for around 1 month and she
was not taking care of the cat due to an allergy.  Meya was wandering
helplesly in the world just like me.  Well I got a bowl of chili and Meya
spent the whole time in my lap trying her hardest to get a bite of my
chili.  Which ofcourse she did and did not like.  She never left my lap.
The part that jumped out at me was the way she would lay on her back in my
arms just like a baby would do when you hold it.   I couldn't help but make
arrangements to go back and retrieve the cat the very next day.  Meya has
been with me ever since. I guess she needed the Mommy that I had been meant
to be.  I never had any more children but Meya sleeps with me everynight
and lays in my lap everyday.  She is the love of my life and I will allways
beleive that god sent her to me.  There has never been a day when I have
felt alone she has been right there loving me as much as I love her.  The
best part about it is that she is never going to grow up and move out or go
to college.  She is now 10 years old and her birthday is Tomorrow.

<snip of your touching story>

First, Happy Purrday (birthday) Meya!

Tabetha, thank you for sharing your story. To be able to find life
from death is healing, or so I like to believe, and I feel it
sometimes. I, too, lost my only child 2 years-2 weeks-and one day-
ago. Though I did hold him as a baby (he was 23 years old when he
died) I mourn not being able to hold his children, if he would have
had any, and I mourn the man he had become, the child he used to
be.  That winter of 2003 was one of the snowiest I remember here in
MD, USA. I discovered many paw prints in the snow made no doubt by
cats who were drawn to the wild birds I was feeding. During a time
that I literally wanted nothing more than to go join my son, I
found some hope in the life outside my door. After a few months of
feeding them (there were 3 that I know of) and providing some
hopefully warm shelter, I was able to trap and have the two males
neutered, and a small female who was spayed. The two males I
released after their ops and shots and just kept feeding them. They
were later adopted by a friend of mine who charishes them to this
day. The small female I kept because she was just too young to
release back into that life. I gave her the birthday of Jan 25,
2003 - the day of my son's death. I think she was slightly older
than what they would have made her, but it helped me because she
helped me want to live.

I'm glad we both found some peace during a very hard time.

My little miracle kitty is named Bonnie.

Tabetha,

Thank you for adopting Meya and for posting your message.  This is a
wonderful story...inspirational and with a wonderfully happy ending.  Happy
birthday to Meya, and "happy foreverhome" to both of you.

(Please post some pictures.  This is not a binaries newsgroup, so they
cannot be posted here.  However, many of us post to another group and place
a short notice on this group.  I use alt.binaries.pictures.animals for this
purpose

First of all Happy Birthday to your little one.
I truly belive that sometimes are pets are sent to us from up above.
I found my Pheniox almost 2 years ago (she will have a bday on 2-14-05)
during a time that I needed her most, My 1st husband had died and I had
been told I only had 6 months to live. When I found her she was in horrible
condition but she had the will to go on and the strength. This in turn gave
me the will because I knew she needed me as much as I needed her.

I am so happy you and her found each other, and sounds like great things
have come from it.
Big hugs for you and happy purrs for her.
Holly, Pheniox, Sasha and Isbella
